Since 2015 the Department of Land Transport have announced and enforced the installation of GPS on trucks and trailers that transport dangerous\/hazardous materials. This GPS system must 1. Have an identification system of the driver 2. Be able to connect and send information to the Department of Transport server. <\/p>\n

As of January 25, 2016, the Department of Land Transport have extended this requirement to certain types of buses, trucks with 10 or more tyres and prime movers. New vehicles those are registered after January 25, 2016 that falls into these categories are required to have a GPS system and those registered before will need to have GPS installed by 2019 latest, depending on the type of vehicle. <\/p>\n
